Grendel is an antagonist and evil. He has "hell-forged hands" and he is devil-like. He is angry at the Danes and has a lust for blood. Beowulf is an epic hero who is courageous. He is noble and honorable. He has defeated many enemies and is good at helping others. He is fearless and selfless. Beowulf looks to take Grendel down with his own bare, two hands. Grendel is a monster who looks to invade the mead hall, Herot, created by Hrothgar and bring death and destruction. Beowulf is the strongest of the Geats warriors. He hears of Grendel's killings and terrorizing and looks to put a stop to it. Grendel is evil, Beowulf is good. Grendel is from what is known today as Denmark. Beowulf is from what is known today as Sweden. Grendel has killed and terrorized the Danes for 12 years because he is angry with them. Beowulf plans to kill Grendel with his bare hands because he wants to protect the Danes.
