I do not think Grendel's mother's behavior is as wicked or unreasonable as Grendel's. The reason is is because Grendel killed for the fun of it, it was like his hobby, while his mother only killed for the revenge of the death of her son. Grendel enjoyed the blood and the lust of his victims. Grendel's mother was just angry that her son had been killed. Grendel and his mother both had something in common though. They were both killed by Beowulf, Beowulf chopped off both of their heads, and at some point Beowulf found out he could not use his weapons on them so he had to kill them with his bare hands. But Beowulf was some how able to chop off Grendel's arm and Grendel bled to death, and for Grendel's mother, he was able to use a sword blessed by magic and he then cut her head off. But comparing Grendel to his mother, they are both monsters, they are both threats to the danes, and they both have killed and have been killed by Beowulf. You can tell, though, that Grendel's mother really loves Grendel. After Grendel dies, she risks her life to kill for revenge of her son's death, and she also takes Grendel's arm back. She kind of died for her son, too, because if she never went to kill the danes over the death of her son, then she would have never been dead. Once again, Grendel's mother is not as cruel as Grendel because he killed for hobby, she killed for his life.
