Nia is not really a reader. She knows how to, it's just not really something she enjoys. People learn how to read when they have been read to growing up. It's something that they see their peers do. People read to get smarter and more intelligent, or just to entertain themselves. What one has to do to become a good reader is to just do it more often and put your heart into it. What makes reading easy for Nia is that sometimes she feels like she's there with them, like as if she is part of the story, or she can just imagine it in her head what is going on. What makes reading difficult for Nia is that she easily forgets what she has just read and has to read the same sentence, or paragraph, over and over again until it finally clicks, which can be very frustrating for her. When Nia chooses a book she wants to read, she usually likes to choose one she can relate to in some way. Like a story with a teenager as the main character, or something along those lines. Nia doesn't really read a whole lot on her own, it's something she doesn't really find enjoyable unless the book she is reading is really, really good. In general, reading isn't something Nia likes to do a whole lot of because, unfortunately, it can easily bore her. Sometimes, she can really enjoy it depending on what she is reading.
Nia is a writer. She has learned to write by writing little mini stories her whole childhood. It was something she really enjoyed doing. In fact, she read one of her little stories to a college class years ago. People write to get what is in their head, out of it. To tell people their story. What people have to know in order to write well is to know what to put in order to drag the reader in and make them interested in what was written. If that does not happen, the reader of the writer won't be very interested in what was written. The kind of writing Nia likes to write is fiction, she likes to make up her own stories, she really loved to do that when she was younger. Her ideas come from what has happened in the day or in her life, or just out of the blue. The responses that help Nia as a writer are positive ones, if someone dislikes what she has written it will discourage her and make her not want to continue. Nia hasn't written a lot on her own in a while. It's been about 6 or 7 years. Nia has like what she has written, she sometimes feels proud of what she has done.
