Beowulf and Achilles are both warriors. Achilles had more advantages when it came to killing enemies; Achilles had his friend Patroclus by his side and we was also a demigod. Beowulf on the other hand did not have those advantages; he had a little army of warriors, but they ended up ditching him because they were scared and he was not a demigod. Beowulf kills enemies to protect the kingdom but Achilles only killed enemies to give him glory. Beowulf cared for the people. Achilles, on the other hand, did not really care for the Greeks. In fact, he wanted them to do poorly so that they can call his name, defeat what ever enemy was there, then of course, receive more glory. Towards the end of the stories, Beowulf and Achilles encountering their last battles, Beowulf killed to once again, protect the people; while Achilles killed because he was angry that Patroclus has died. Beowulf's last enemy was the dragon, even though Grendel's mother was more of a well-known one and Achilles's last battle was with Hector (whom was the one that Achilles fought angrily because of the passing of Patroclus). They both were able to kill their enemies. Beowulf did have quite a hard time because he was not as "powerful" as Achilles. Eventually they both die, though. Achilles died a quite poor death. He was shot in the heel by Paris because no mortal being can fight him in hand-to-hand combat. Beowulf on the other hand, had more of a better death. No death is good, obviously, but Beowulf was killed while he was fighting the dragon. He died in battle which is better for the warrior than dying any other way because Beowulf was able to know that he had lived a nice, long, and courageous life. But in the end, Beowulf and Achilles are both great epic heroes who protected the people.
