The main ideas we learned this past week were more into shared leadership and the power of the electorate. They go together because they are the topics that we are in the midst of studying when it comes to the novels that we are reading. Some of the important details were to better understand exactly what the topic is and how it relates to what we are doing. The stuff we did that relates to the topic is work on our Pecha Kucha presentations. We've come to know and understand the topic by reading the stories that go with the topic. I would rate my understanding average, I think I still need to work on time management. But overall, it is a good topic to learn.
This week wasn't necessarily of week of being taught. We all already knew exactly what we had to do. For me, it was to continue reading my novel. The main ideas were to better understand what it was that was going on in the shared leadership stories. They go together and connect because they are our keys to making our Pecha Kucha presentations. The important details to the main ideas were, again, to better understand what was going on in the stories we are reading. The activities that we did to go along with the main ideas were to either read or write a one pager to help us prepare for our presentations. How we've come to know and understand the ideas that we learned this pass week were to look into them more, read or study more. I don't think I really have any questions about the main ideas. I believe I participated very well in what we were learning this week. I read as much as I could everyday. I honestly don't think I would give my understanding of the ideas from this week a very high rating and the reason is is because I seemed to have a hard time understanding what exactly is was that I was reading. Like I would have to reread stuff that I was reading and that made understanding the main ideas quite difficult. What I need to work on more is to continue reading. https://www.boundless.com/management/textbooks/boundless-management-textbook/leadership-9/other-leadership-perspectives-73/shared-leadership-363-10556/ The main ideas we learned this past week were ones that had to do with reading, like how to dig deeper into the details of the story or how to manage your time when it comes to reading. The main ideas go together because they all have stuff to do with reading a book. The important details were that of digging deeper into what you are reading, and find the little details, because little details can make a big difference in how you understand what exactly it is that you're reading. The activities we did that go along with the main ideas was just reading, reading to better understand. We came to know and understand the ideas by practicing them, do more reading to become better at it. I don't think that I have any questions when it comes to what I learned this week. I believe my participation was okay, I was gone for two days so I missed quite a bit. I would give myself an okay rating of how good I learned this week, I find the book I'm reading quite challenging to understand. The question I'd have about all this, is how can I make myself better understand the words that I'm reading instead of having to reread paragraphs over and over again to better understand it? This week was another week of shared leadership. As of right now, we are still continuing to read our books about a dystopian future in which something already powerful in today's society ends up having too much power and pretty much doing whatever they want whether or not the people like it or want it. Things such as: government, religion, science, etc. How learning about all this stuff can connect to the real world is that we would then have an idea of something to expect if that were to actually happen, or get worse for some people. The book, 1984, that I am currently reading right now is about what if the government had too much power over the people and what it looks like in that story. Everything that we learned this week could also give us a better understanding of what our lives would look like if a dystopian future like that were to actually happen, or when it does, if it does. Shared leadership is when there are multiple people involved in governing what ever it is that needs to be governed. Why it's important is that multiple people have a say in what happens in the area that they are governing. Multiple opinions working together to try to make the government better. If only one person was the leader, then it's likely that they would abuse their power and things would then go bad because things would only go the way that the leader wants it to go and not the people. So that is why having a shared leadership government is important because many smart minds can then come together and discuss what is best for the people that they are governing. If only one person is the leader then the future can become dystopian, if there are more than one, then the future can indeed become a happier place than what it is today. This week was a big week of just doing my own work and such. I wasn't verbally taught what I learned this week, I learned with the work I've done this week. This week was a very hectic week, in my opinion. There was a ton of reading that I had to do in not a lot of time. It was a little stressful seems how I'm not much of a reader. But this week a I learned a bunch of important stuff, not stuff that can just boost my knowledge, but stuff that can better me as a person. Stuff like: don't procrastinate and push things off to the side until last minute, and how to use time wisely, and most importantly, I don't earn something doing nothing. Knowing that can really help motivate me to do the work that I find difficult because I know that if I don't put the effort in that I need to put in, I will not get anything in return. Also another thing I definitely need to put into consideration is that the faster I get something done the less I need to stress about it. I really struggle with holding things off until last minute but if I just do it in the beginning I can get it done and over with and, therefore, no longer need to stress about it. That is definitely something that I need to work on. I feel this week there wasn't much "learning", I feel like there was more "doing". What we had to do was work on our TIB essay. The main ideas were us talking about what we believe in. We had to talk about what makes us, us. And what makes us, us, is having beliefs. The important details in have a belief is is that it seems to be important for people to know so that they can know you, as a person, better. The activities and experiments that we did to go along with the main ideas was create our TIB digital story. We came to know and understand it by thinking about what you believe in. I don't think I have any questions about it. I believe my participation was good, I tried to stay focused and work on the essay. I think I could give my understanding of this topic a decent rating. I don't think there is much that I need to work on, I think I have a good understand of what went on this week. The main ideas we learned this week were ideas that went with our "This I Belive" essays. Ideas on how to make the reader feel like they're involved in your story and understand every detail of it. They go together because they're supposed to take us in emotionally and let us be able to understand the stories that are told. The important details of the main ideas were to be able to explain exactly what is happening so that the listener of your story can be able to relate. The activities and experimebts we did were write our essays and also listen and watch other people's so that we can have an idea and an understanding on what exactly we're supposed to do. We came to know and understand the ideas by listening and watching. The questions I still have are just to know ways to better understand how to get people in the same boat as me and to relate to what I am saying. I believe my participation was good because I stayed busy every day this week doing my essay. I think I understand a majority of what I learned this week. I think what I would still need to work on, though, are just ways to better understand how to put better detail in what I am saying so that the people who are reading are listening to what I am saying can relate because it's perfectly detailed. This week we learned all about the elements of storytelling and the power of it as well. The main ideas go together because they are about storytelling; the elements and how powerful it is in general. The important details to the main ideas were a point of view, a dramatic question, emotion, voice, soundtrack, economy, and pacing, rythym, tempo, etc. Some activites and experiements we did when it came to this topic was watch TED Talks and write some stuff on the board and talk as a class about these things. We came to know and understand the ideas that we learned by watching videos and tryng to find way to relate. I still have some questions about it though. Some of the elements I do not fully understand. Elements like: economy and dramatic question. I believe I had decent participation this week. I've talked to my table when the times came and I did the things I was supposed to do. I would rate my understanding a half and half. I understand a good portion of what we learned this week, while I didn't quite understand another portion. I think I will still need to work on understanding some of the elements of storytelling a little bit more. http://www.thestorytellers.com/the-power-of-storytelling What I learned the first week of this class was stuff that can be very important and are very important to our lives in the future. Things such as, the rules of being human and why stories are so powerful. The rules of being human is such a good one because it explains different ways to look at our lives when it comes to situtions and such. One that really stood out to me was the rule that we don't make mistakes, we only learn lessons. Why that was so meaningful to me was because thinking you made a "mistake" can be a bit hurtful, so thinking you only learned a lesson can be very helpful and encourage you because now you know that what you tried to do at first, you can do better. Another thing that really stuck out to me in the first week was the fact that stories can be powerful. They indeed can be because people can learn better from hearing a story than just hearing a fact. Stories can engage people to really listen, and when they listen they learn better and keep what they heard in their minds better. I can tell that from what I've learned so far in this class will really help in the long run. I look forward to what else I will learn because I know that it will be very important. Why that is is because there are so many things you can find out about your self and the world and you just have to learn it. http://upliftconnect.com/10-rules-for-being-human/ |
